From intern, to Vogue Beauty Editor, to Editorial Director at the monster success that is Birchbox UK, Jessica Diner's career is the stuff Hollywood films are made of. When Jessica invited us to her beautiful London home, we couldn't wait to quiz her on pretty much everything...Here's a snippet of our interview:
How did you start your career?
I knew wanted to work in fashion publishing, so I started off doing internships at virtually every Conde Nast publication in Vogue House - Tatler, Vanity Fair, GQ - before I got to British Vogue. I did my first internship in the beauty department and that’s where I discovered my love for beauty. I stayed there for eight years, finishing as Beauty Editor. Now I work at Birchbox, which is a beauty subscription service that’s all about new ways of discovering beauty.
What’s your day-to-day style?
It’s quite relaxed. It can go from a quite floaty, boho style to something a bit more structured and tailored. Midi skirts and dresses definitely make up my signature look as I wear them all the time, but I’m a bit of a rock chick at heart, so I’ll pair a beautiful dress with a shrunken leather biker jacket.
How do you approach getting ready in the morning?
I probably should say that I start with my makeup and dress around my look, but actually I will always start with the one key piece I want to wear and then build around it, whether that’s my leather biker jacket or a midi skirt or a shirt.
