Whether you're heading off to an exotic beach or staying home trying to avoid this insanely cold June - we repeat, June - weather, and are looking for the right entertainment, read on. Monica Beatrice Welburn of The Elgin Avenue shares her top reads (and a few listens) for this summer:

Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll -  I just read this on my latest holiday and it is an absolute can't-put-it-down kind of read. An amazing thriller, with a fashion-savvy girl at its centre - I was hooked!

The Lively Show podcast by Jess Lively - not technically a book, but I am completely hooked on this incredible podcast series which focuses on life and adding "a little extra intention to your everyday".

Serial podcast, Season 1 hosted by Sarah Koenig for This American Life - another not-book! This podcast was the one that got me in to podcasts at all. Serial also got me exercising again after injury as I was so keen to listen to each episode I would gear myself up to go for a long walk just to hear what happened next!

If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: and Other Things Your Mother Never Told You by Kelly Cutrone - I really enjoyed this book which is a real-life account of famous New York-based publicist Kelly Cutrone. It was a much more spiritual book than I was anticipating.

The Wrong Knickers - A Decade of Chaos by Bryony Gordon  - this is a great beach read, I laughed so much throughout this book I gave it to all of my girlfriends to read once I was finished.
